Itinerary
Seven days. One coast.
A practical week with water, fort, and whales.
This itinerary assumes November–April dry season and bases you in Unawatuna with day trips east and west. Adjust if you are taking a full Wave 1 course (three water days) or the five-day retreat.
Day 1 — Arrive, Unawatuna
Transfer from Colombo (2.5 h). Check in, swim the bay, sunset walk to Jungle Beach or the pagoda. Early night — jet lag and tomorrow's water.
Day 2 — Galle Fort
Morning ramparts and coffee in the fort. Afternoon back in Unawatuna for snorkel or beach. Dinner on the beach road.
Days 3–5 — Freediving Wave 1 (or retreat)
Three-day certification: theory, pool, open water. If not diving, substitute Weligama surf (day 3), Koggala lake boat (day 4), and Handunugoda tea (day 5). See top ten activities.
Day 6 — Mirissa
Whale watching if in season (book ahead). Lunch in Mirissa, optional coconut hill viewpoint. Return to Unawatuna for last-night dinner.
Day 7 — Depart or extend
Last swim, transfer to airport, or head east toward Yala safari (add 2–3 days) or hill country (add 3–4 days). Many guests wish they booked two weeks.
Extensions
- +3 days: Yala national park safari
- +4 days: Ella tea country and trains
- +5 days: Our freediving retreat instead of scattered day trips
